James Dean® '1955' 

Renauld and the James Dean® Estate are proud to announce a collaboration to create a limited-edition sunglass known as the James Dean® '1955' by Renauld. 

James Dean is remembered as a 50’s icon.  His talent as an actor and his skill as a motorcar and motorbike enthusiast was tragically cut short.  Dean’s films include ‘Giant’ and ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ and will remain forever in cinema’s Hall-of-Fame’ of all-time greats. Throughout his life, James was known for wearing a distinct pair of glasses. We, at Renauld, have paid tribute to the star by recreating his exact model. 

The distinctive glasses in tortoiseshell and piano black acetate feature a clip-on sunglass and will be available in three different colours including, Deep Blue, Sky Blue and Olive Green. James Dean® by Renauld is crafted to exacting standards by our leading eye atelier in Italy and comes with the option of prescription lenses.

The James Dean®1955 by Renauld will feature an actual part of Dean’s iconic racing pit one-piece encased in the Renauld Marque and embedded in the frame of the sunglass. This piece of fabric was cut by Jimmy's cousin, Marcus Winslow, on the Indiana farm where they grew up. The mechanic suit is thought by Marcus to have been traveling with Jimmy and in the car wreckage on September 30th, 1955. This is an item from the family's private collection, never before shared with the public.

James Dean® by Renauld will be the first pioneering interactive pair of sunglasses – allowing the owner to access valuable content by touching their smart phone on the NFC chip encased in the frame by using the Renauld Vibe App. The Keepsake is also protected by a new interactive element in the glasses called a 'ValueBond®'.  More information will be made available on the 'ValueBond®' as we approach launch (pls see below*).
